Weather or Not

This is a photo of the sky from my deck while I was having my morning coffee.

I think these are stratus clouds but not sure.

All of a sudden they were there and moving quickly.

It started to come down bucket full as we took down our awning covering the deck.

After the short storm the sun came out and up went the awning covering the deck.

I had an AHA moment to write about it, so here is my insight.

Weather or Not

Enjoying my coffee while sitting on our deck,

watching the clouds moving in the sky

Trying to remember my science class learning

were they cumulous or stratus I see

Suddently turning from a cotton white to a gray,

Like a zipper exposing what lies within, they open

pouring rain down on me.

Rushing inside so as not to get wet,

Coffee in hand looking back with regret,

my morning routine having been upset.

We have no control if it rains or not,

so tomorrow I will have my coffee

again in that spot.

Rings of Gold - Poetry

I use the word poetry I guess but sometimes when I see an object it immediately brings thoughts into my head. I am by no means versed in writing but I do try and would liketo share this poem for a Swap on my fabulous web site Swap-bot.com, for a picture prompt.

Picture prompt:

A picture is put up for a swap. Anyone a member of swap-bot, who would like to join, sends their idea from the picture in either poem or story form. This was my swap and I put a picture of two wedding rings.

___Rings of Gold_____

Two people brought together with two

rings of gold,

Hoping together to grow old,

But rings of gold, as precious metal they are,

Cannot predict tribulations by far.

Time goes by too fast, be sure

As the rings of gold may last

nothing else remains as pure.

Poetry Swap Using 3 Words

Another Poetry Swap.

We must use these words in a poem form.

The three words were: Falter, blurred, breath.

Here is my entry:

Hopeful

He took her breath away

His handsomeness blurred her vision

Should she falter and forget his past?

Yes, loving him was all she had.

Poetry or Story Swap - Fall

Being my favorite subject for the seasons FALL I joined in this swap.
Here is my own poem

Best of All

Call it Autumn
Call it Fall
End of Summer
Best of All

Favorite Season
No matter the weather,
Cause Winter comes next
Bring out the Sweater.

Random Poetery Again swap

I once again put up a swap on SWAP-BOT for Random Poetry. As before in my
entry under poetry on this blog I had to have a book that I was interested in
turning to any page, any chapter and start to count every 12th word for 15 words and with those words try to make a poem or prose out of them. You could use your own
extra words in it to make some sort of sense. I cannot believe that I have had such
affinity for this. It stirs my imagination and gives me some satification that maybe
with prompts etc. I can write. By no means do I consider myself a poet or a writer. I am a novice to this world but it gives me such satifaction even though my actual
presentation of poetry is not correct in the eyes of those much better at this than I.(or should that be "me").

The book: - Stones From the River by Hegi
The 15 words were: began, were, yet, too, that, took, when, her, off, pillow, breathless, at, her, had, uneven

- Sleepless -

Breathless, she took her pillow

off the bed, uneven were her sheets

What had began as sleep at best

became a dream, yet...

when that became too real, she awoke,

breathless.

Random Poetry - Alone

Another swap I did about getting a book and turning to random page, count every 12th word for 15 words and try to create a poem of such with it. You can use other words to make a little sense to it too. Here is mine:

Book : The Choice by Nicholas Sparks

Words were: her, to, house,a, matter, was, she, at, couple, demanding, required, understanding, least, but, would.

Alone

A house to her would really matter

but it required a couple at least

The work was demanding,

she had understanding

but it was harder without her man.

Random Poetry Swap - Again

This is another swap I did to pick a book, turn to a page, pick every 12 word for 15 words, adding your own words to it if it speaks to you and make a piece of poetry.
This was mine.

From Book Called: The Singing Creek Where the Willows Grow.

Words picked were: we, other, she, with, came, what, and, again, the, bring, together, the
days, times, were

Reluctance

The days she came we were together again
What would she bring and did I care?
Other times with love it mattered
Now with the hurt, too much to bear
The time is over.

Strictly for The Birds

I noticed last month, November, that a lone bluebird was flying back and forth from the front of the house a tree and then to my porch. Back and forth she flew and I wrote down a few words about it in a poem (I hope).

Strickly for The Birds

I pass by the window everyday

noticing a bluebird darting about

looking for places, is she ready to nest

Perpetuating her species

a place that is best.

Her feathers are gleaming a

shimmering blue

fluttering back and forth

In the early morning dew

She has to be away from human

touch

Away from four legged animals

a must

Will it be in a tree or
just tall grass?

She is uncertain, safety a must

She lights in a tree looking about

If only she would come closer

I wanted to shout
"Come near to me so I can enjoy"

But then she flew away

probably annoyed.

Mom's Apron

I remember it well this apron

The one my mother wore

Her apron was her mark of trade

It covered her while doing "chores"

Use of this apron covered her from shoulder to knees

and it was as useful as can be

with pockets holding small momentos

things we misplaced, you see.

I see her coming from the garden

Apron filled with vegetables she gathers

Into the sink they go, brushing off

the dirt, it didn't matter

She uses the apron pockets for collecting

the clothespins she will use

To hang the just washed clothes

On washlines provided there

She walks through the living room

Someone is knocking at the door

Lifting one edge of the apron to make sure

dust is no more, she answers that door

Her apron stays on her all day,

protecting her limited wardrobe,

gathering pieces of this and that in the pockets

this apron all day long

Many times she brushed away a tear from my eye

Many time her pockets held, a hanky, a toy,

Sometimes completely empty

Sometimes filled with joy

At night that apron hung on a hook

Awaiting another day for my mother, her apron, a memory never to fade

As I am sure that apron may.

I loved my mother dearly having fears of her departing me. Sometimes, I would walk by that apron hanging on a hook. It did fade in color or print over time. I would lift it to my nose and
and it assured me that Mom would be putting on that apron in the morning and she did until the day she died.

Another Random Poetry Swap

I really enjoy doing this, something about bringing forth my imagination with some help.
In the swap you were to take a book you are reading and count every 12th word for 15 words
from a page and make sense of them in a poem. It can be very hard to do if you have all nouns or all verbs, but if it is that way, you go to another page in the book and do it again. You can add your own words to it to make a little sense. From a Nicholas Sparks book.

Here is mine:

The Sea With Me

Your thin, white hands
scooping,

that touched the foam on the waves
that had been
Through the reflection in your
eyes, I was Amazed

Cloudy Day - By Diane Yates

Against a baby blue sky they appear
Clouds, pristine white
Clouds, tinged with gray
Changing shape as they pass overhead
First, shaped as an elephant, then a dog

Amused, I watch as they float by
Then suddenly, rain drops
Gracing the land below to give nourhment to the earth
First in droplets that make me stay to watch
Then a shower of rain, that makes me alert, but wet.

Clouds, providing water for this glorious but parched land
Clouds, giving me a picture show on that large
babyblue screen.

Poems (I think) By Me!

I love doing a random poetry swap. My first was to pick every 12th word for 15 words from a book I was reading and make poetry out of them. I was so surprised that it almost made sense.

The words were: weather, darkness, cast, as, time, blue, porch, shaking, playing, swirling, music, further, all, hit, not . All words randomly throughout the first few pages of the book. I may try that again and present a new swap with the same idea.

Tornado Watch

The weather turned in a darkness cast of blue
The porch then shaking in time
As if music was playing

Sounds of swirling winds
Seem further away than not
But then it hit and all that was,
Was gone
