Another Type Art - Painting on Silk

Sharing once again another art project that I did awhile back for the first time and it was painting on silk.

Because I live in Tennessee and the State flower is an Iris I made two window panels that are framed and sit on my two front bedroom windows.  They are very pretty when the sun shines throw them that they look like stain glass.  Silk paint (fabric ink, really) painted on silk, letting the paint (ink) flow as I wish and putting a clear resist to stop it at a certain point. The final thing to do after it dries is to iron it to make the ink permanent.  The whole process is fun to do and you can get some amazing results.
Enjoy

    1. Thanks Barbara. It is a fun project. You stretch silk on a wooden frame and start adding your liquid silk paint, dabbing resist which keeps the paint from flowing to one another to make a design. When done you wash the piece, iron and ta da! I also made a few scarves this way but designing them as I go along.
