Aha Moment for me!

As you read about my little trip recently to Florida with a bunch of old friends I also want to share with you how I was feeling while there. Don't get me wrong, love being there but for some reason three or four were either getting a cold or just got over bad coughs. Me, I had indigestion everyday and didn't eat much, just a lot of tums. Shopping with the girls was strange because we love those little botiques to look through but my stamia was not as I thought it should be, so my friend thought I was just tired and I would sit and wait on benches throughout this little town. I was out of breath alot but wouldn't admit it to anyone and they ssurely wondered what happened to all my opinions I always have to share. I was quiet.

Three days after getting home from Florida I knew something was wrong and I guess I just had it and couldn't cope and told DH I think the emergency room for me and now. Hate going there and we all put that off.

My "Aha" momement was when I thought maybe a heart attack but it turned out to be a small blood clot in my right lung and pneumonia. After testing they then found I had a UTI and they believe caused by my blood pressure meds so they took me off them and blasted me with antibiotics which in turn made me sick to my stomach, unable to eat and a hospital stay of 5 days. I am home now and need to get on blood thinners, have blood work done every day for 5 days. Hoping that the clot was small enough to dissapate I go back next week for another test.
My "aha" moment to me was at my age you better stop being lazy,, sitting around and get walking, move that body. I never expected this to happen andthere are a lot of things out there that are worse and I truly feel blessed that I got a rude awaking that I am just a mortal being
Being a control freak of sorts, this shook me with this hospital stay. You really are relying on machines and nurses and doctors to take care of you, you do not have control. I had anxiety attacks at night, couldn't sleep. Of course who sleeps when they are always waking you up.

My family and friends are the best and they were so upset over it that I vow I will do my upmost to stay as healthy as I can, not extreme now but moving this old body. So I will do my best to get over this completely and having a dear husband taking care of me is just a plus. They asked me at the hospital if I wanted "Home Health Care". I said no, I married a man 10 years younger than me in fine health and he is definitly my "Honey Health Care".

  2. I'm glad you're home and glad you're planning to do the exercise you knew you needed. I hope part of the aha! is that when you're not yourself, short of breath, tummy achy, no energy -- it's time to see a doc and catch the problem before you have to go to the emergency room. We don't always want to be yelling "Wolf!" for every little pain but we need to get the care we deserve that only a specialist can diagnose. Glad you're home and I hope you give your DH lots of grateful hugs.

  3. Hollychihuahua here from SB. You know, it's funny how bad health, weight and stuff like that just creeps up on you. I recently realized this in my own life. It takes a real commitment to shape up, but it's so worth it. Congrats on realizing this, and I wish you the best of luck.
